Astrophysical implications of higher derivative gravity
Four-derivative modification to the Einstein-Hilbert action of general relativity, without a cosmological constant will be studied. Higher derivative terms are interesting because they make the theory renormalisable (but non-unitary) and because they appear generically in quantum gravity theories. In this thesis the astrophysical implications of these theories will be investigated in the context of NS, BH and accretion disks.
