Attività
He works on software infrastructures for large astronomical facilities. His activity focuses on monitoring, logging, and alarm systems, telemetry analysis, and the development of operational observability frameworks for distributed telescope arrays.
He is software coordinator of the Monitoring, Logging, and Alarm subsystem of the CTA Observatory control and data acquisition system (ACADA), leading a development team of six members. In this role he coordinates the development of the Monitoring System (MON) and the Array Alarm System (AAS), which provide observability, fault detection, and alarm management for the CTA telescope array. He is also software coordinator of the monitoring, logging, and alarm infrastructure of the ASTRI Mini-Array, leading a development team of about five members. These systems support telemetry analysis, operational diagnostics, and automated supervision of the telescope subsystems, forming the basis for reliability assessment and maintenance analysis of the observatory infrastructure. His work focuses on the design and integration of monitoring architectures and telemetry pipelines used for system diagnostics, fault detection, and operational reliability in large telescope arrays. In recent years his activity has increasingly addressed predictive maintenance approaches based on telemetry analysis, anomaly detection, and Normal Behavior Modeling applied to observatory subsystems.
Curriculum vitae
2019-2026 Work-Package coordinator of the CTAO/ACADA Monitoring, Logging Systems for CTAO/ACADA Monitoring System (MON)
Responsible for the design and development of the MON monitoring and logging framework and for the integration of telemetry collection and supporting system observability for the CTA Observatory.
2019-2026 Work-Package coordinator of the CTAO/ACADA Alarm System (AAS) Coordination of the design and development of the AAS alarm framework, including alarm generation, correlation, and notification mechanisms supporting fault detection and operational response for the CTA Observatory.
2019-2026 Work-Package coordinator for the development of the monitoring, logging, and alarm software infrastructure used in the ASTRI Mini-Array, supporting telemetry analysis, diagnostics, and operational supervision of the telescope subsystems.
2024-2026 ServiMon monitoring framework: Author of ServiMon, a service-oriented monitoring framework based on Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka, and Cassandra, developed to support monitoring and telemetry analysis in distributed scientific infrastructures.
2023-2025 Predictive maintenance research (HAIP project): INAF Principal Investigator of the HAIP project (“Harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence for predictive maintenance of industrial plants”), within Spoke 2 – Fundamental Research and Space Economy of the National Centre for HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing. The project, carried out in collaboration with ENI, investigated predictive maintenance approaches based on machine learning applied to multivariate industrial time series, including segmentation strategies, ensemble models, and anomaly detection techniques for early identification of anomalous system behaviour.
2024-2026 Normal Behavior Modeling for telescope telemetry: Author of studies on multivariate forecasting of ASTRI telemetry data aimed at building Normal Behavior Models capable of detecting deviations from nominal operational conditions.
